A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the eastern province of Elazig early on Monday, killing 51 people and injuring more than 70 others.
Helin Gunes survived the quake because she was cushioned between her mother and grandmother while they slept while the two women perished.
Burhan Gunes, the father of the baby girl who survived was in a nearby house in Okcular village when the tremor hit and the walls caved in, burying him, said Guler Yuksel, the cousin of the baby.
One of the relatives of the baby girl breastfeeds her since the mother died in the quake, she added.
Almost all stone and mud-brick houses in five villages in the district of Karakocan were destroyed after the 60-second tremble.
